CAINAN’S PURPOSE
Cainan was originally diagnosed with an aggressive form of Leukemia in 2013 at age 2 and underwent a bone marrow transplant. Seventeen months later it was discovered Cainan had relapsed. In 2015, he was the third child at Cincinnati Childrens Hospital to receive a brand new trial treatment (t-cell immunotherapy) and again beat leukemia!
Then, in August 2017, it was discovered Cainan had level 4 glioblastoma brain tumor. He braved surgery to remove the tumor, went through many therapies and procedures, and did it all with strength and a smile. He even adapted to the loss of his right side and dominate hand after surgery and learned to write and build legos using his left hand. His left hand print is a reminder to us of how he overcame and his joy through it all that we hope to share with others. Although Cainan lost his battle in January 2018 at age 7, his purpose lives on through the memories created with your family during your stay at “the doctors house” (as Cainan called it) making these LEGO creations.
Our family collects Legos and donates them to the hospitals we spent so much time in with Cainan. We want to encourage you to put everything else aside, and spend time together as a family building legos and memories and appreciating all the little things that build your family and all you are overcoming. Please share a photo of your LEGO creation on this page along with your story and how Cainan’s Purpose has impacted you! We know how important sharing your story and connecting with others is when your life is impacted by illness. If you’ve donated a LEGO set, thank you, we hope you are also blessed by seeing how your gift positively impacted a child and their family.
